Voice Input
Dictate replies instead of typing using the built-in microphone.
The message composer includes a microphone button that converts your speech to text in real time. It works in both Reply and Whisper mode.
Using Voice Input
- Click the microphone icon at the bottom-right of the message composer.
- Start speaking — your words appear as text in the composer.
- Click the microphone icon again to stop listening.
- Review the transcribed text, edit if needed, then send normally.
Supported Languages
Voice input automatically matches your platform language setting. Supported languages include: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, and Russian.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone permission denied | Browser blocked microphone access | Click the camera/microphone icon in your browser's address bar and allow access |
| Microphone not available | No microphone connected, or another app is using it | Connect a microphone or close other apps using it |
| Network error | Speech recognition requires internet | Check your connection and retry |
| No speech detected | Microphone didn't pick up audio | Speak clearly and check that your microphone is working |
| Button is disabled | Browser doesn't support speech recognition | Use a supported browser (Chrome recommended) |
